Union Light and Power Building

Built in 1889 The Union Light & Power building is still active as a power & steam plant. This building stands at the coner of Locust & 20th Street in St. Louis Missouri. It is built on a white limestone foundation while the walls are constructed of brick & terra cotta with an asphalt roof. This buildings Romanesque Revival style stands in stark contrast to the more simple & crude warehouses & other industrial buildings which it looms over. I know they were attempting to have the building placed on the National Register Of Historic Places so I am hoping this stunning piece of living history survives!
